Rules for using Warp It

How to use WARPit

The WARPit system aims to make the transfer of resources simple and easy.

Contributing goods

  1. Any member listing Coventry University goods (a “Contributor”) on WARPit should describe the goods accurately, and in as much detail as possible. The upload form has been designed to make this process as easy as possible. Where you see a [?], you can hover over this with your mouse for guidance.
For example, providing the correct dimensions for items of furniture is essential. If a desk is transferred and the size is wrong, then the whole process has been a waste of time and resources.
  2. The contributor makes no warranty or representation of any kind, either expressed or implied including (without limitation) any warranty of merchantability or fitness for purpose in relation to the receipt or use of the donated goods.
  3. The Contributor agrees to store the item safely until the 'Expiry Date' entered into WARPit. Responsibility for the item remains theirs until the point of collection. If the item is not claimed before the Expiry Date then the owner has responsibility to arrange alternative disposal (e.g. via the Estates team) or donation to a third party charity.
  4. Before adding any items of value, Contributors must contact the faculty or central Coventry University accounting team to check if such items are listed on any asset registers or if any accounting action is required.
By listing an item on WARPit, you are accepting that it may be claimed for free by another faculty/department of Coventry University or any of its subsidiary companies with no value recuperation to your team/department.

Claiming Items

When claiming items, the claimant takes responsibility for the ownership of the item. It is recommend in all cases that claimants make an appointment to view the products of interest before committing to ownership. It is important that claimants satisfy themselves that the products meet with their approval.

The Claimant acknowledges and agrees that:

  1.  When claiming items, the Coventry University member who claims the item (the “Claimant”) takes responsibility for the item. It is recommend in all cases that claimants make an appointment to view the items of interest before committing to collection.

  2. The Claimant acknowledges and agrees that the items claimed  will be for the use within Coventry University, and shall not be claimed for personal use, or passed on to third parties without written consent from Estates (Environment Team).

  3. The claimant has full responsibility to organise transportation to collect the claimed items in a timely manner (before the item expiry date, at which point it can no longer be stored at its current location).

  4. The claimant must ensure that the donated goods are fit for their purpose - once collected the claimant has responsibility for the item. For electrical items, the claimant must arrange with Estates/Facilities to have the item PAT tested.

What our customers are saying

I hate seeing things go to waste so if someone can use something I am finished with then that makes me happy - also the converse is true.

Had some great bits of equipment from WARPit! You just need to be patient sometimes!
